Red Garter Florence Diner Brunch

Even though you’re not in America, brunch is still alive and well out here in Florence! There are many places around town to get your classic brunch fix, but here are the Campus Florence team’s favorite spots. You’ll have to try all four to find out which is your personal favorite!

The Red Garter

The Red Garter, Italy’s oldest American bar that opened in 1962, hosts a popular Sunday brunch every week from 11:30am-5:00pm. This is the place to stop for your big pancake fix and delicious adult milkshakes!

Campus Florence Recommends: My all time favorite is the Eggs Benedict, but every now and again I will switch it up and get the giant pancakes laden with blueberries. That way I can convince myself that I am being healthy while I suck down an Inferno hard shake (Fireball whiskey, peach vodka and Vanilla ice cream).

The Diner

The Diner boasts that true American diner feel. Open every day from 8:30am-11:00pm, it is the place to go for your eggs benedict and omelets, burgers and fries, and bagels. Located just around the corner from the Campus Florence office, feel free to come drop by and say hello after and let us know how you enjoyed your meal!

Campus Florence Recommends: Nothing better than a Diner Bacon and Cheese Burger after a big night out!!! And if you are still hungry check out their dessert display for homemade cakes.

Le Vespe Café

Le Vespe Cafe might be a small cafe on Via Ghibellina, but it’s widely known by study abroad students in Florence. Famous for their avocado toast and fantastic wraps, it’s a great place to stop for brunch when you’re in the mood for a trendy meal. Le Vespe is open Monday to Friday 9:00am-3:00pm and Saturday and Sunday 10:00am-3:00pm.

Campus Florence Recommends: The Vespe has a great atmosphere and reminds me of cafes at home. I do recommend going wither early or later, because on the weekends it is popular also with Italians. They don’t take reservations and sometimes you can wait an hour for a table (inside or out). All time fave is the Via del Leone chicken and avocado wrap with home fries with a fresh made detox juice.

The Rooster Café

The Rooster Cafe is the newest spot in town for your American brunch fix. Study abroad students have been raving about their Chicken and Waffles. They are closed on Mondays but open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00am-4:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am-4:00pm.

Campus Florence Recommends: We actually haven’t been here yet. We keep hearing about it and it is next on our list of places to try. If you have been, feel free to leave comments below. Let us know what you think.
