The third museum that is a part of the Uffizi is the Boboli Gardens. Located directly behind Pitti Palace, it is easily accessible if you are already exploring the palace. Created by the Medici family, the layout of the gardens is now a style that is a model for many European courts.
The immaculately kept garden is a true outdoor museum, populated by ancient and Renaissance statues throughout. The Gardens are also decorated with grottos, the most important of which is the famous grotto created by Bernardo Buontalenti, as well as large fountains, such as the Fountain of Neptune and the Fountain of the Ocean. The subsequent Habsburg-Lorraine and Savoy dynasties further developed the layout, extending the boundaries that flank the ancient city walls until Porta Romana. On the breathtaking terrace area, there is an 18th-century pavilion called the Kaffeehaus, a rare example of Rococo architecture in Tuscany.
Tip: No picnics allowed apparently! Thinking that we were going to take some amazing pics with our basket and rug, the people at the entrance stopped us. We finally convinced them to let us in but if you are thinking that are going make a day of it, keep your picnic accessories subtle or in your backpack.

If you really want to make a day out of it, get the combined ticket for all museums, which includes the Uffizi, Pitti Palace, and Boboli Gardens.
European Union citizens, between the ages of 18 and 26 years old are eligible for a reduced price ticket! Make sure you bring your passport or ID card. For the rest of us, for the moment we can still take advantage of FREE entry on on the first Sunday of the month.
