How to get to the airport bus shuttles Florence

While travel in and out of Florence, the main airports that you will most likely travel from are Florence, Pisa, Rome and Milan. Pisa, Rome, and Milan are major hubs for low-cost airlines. In recent years, low-cost flights have become more common from Florence airport as well.

Autostradale

The autostradale is an easy and cheaper option if you’re flying out of Pisa. The shuttle bus departs from the Florence Santa Maria Novella train station in Piazzale Montelungo (where most buses leave from) running nearly every hour. A one way ticket costs only 14 euro and is around an hour and ten minute trip. If you’re flying out of Milan or Rome, there are shuttles that can take you to those airports from their nearby train stations: Milano Centrale and Roma Stazione Termini. But don’t forget to buy your train tickets to these stations. Tickets for these shuttles range from 5-8 euro depending on the destination.

Appennino Shuttle

If you’re trying to reach the Bologna airport but don’t want to take the train, the Appennino shuttle bus runs from Piazzale Montelungo every two hours. Trip duration is about an hour and a half. You can buy your ticket online for 20 euro or on board for 25 euro. It’s suggested to buy your ticket online as it’s cheaper and guarantees you a seat!

VolainBus

VolainBus, from Italian verb volare–to fly–is the Florence airport shuttle departing from the Florence bus station in Via S. Caterina da Siena. You can buy the tickets at the bus station ticket office or directly on the bus itself. We have attached the link to the VolainBus schedule.

Buses leave every half hour; however, note that early in the morning and later at night, the departure is from in front of the S.M.Novella train rather than the bus station. The journey time is approximately 20 minutes. Don’t cut your arrival time close, as you have to account for traffic.

One-way ticket: €6
Round-trip ticket: €10
