Osteria Dei Benci has just launched a new lunch menu, the theme of which is Be Healthy, Be Hearty, Be Happy. Their daytime menu offers fresh, seasonl produce made into juices, smoothies, panini, salads and light pastas and meat dishes whilst their dinner menu is traditionally Tuscan and hence hearty. An Osteria is different to a Trattoria which serves casalinga-style dishes, things that Italians would typically eat at home. And is also different to a Ristorante or Restaurant which has more elaborate cuisine. An Osteria, serves traditional dishes from the region.
True to this, Osteria dei Benci is one of the best places to try the Bistecca Fiorentina, famous Florentina Steak which is a T-Bone cut thick and served bloody. Typically, the Bistecca will not weigh less than 2 pounds, so sharing is definitely an option! Along side the many meaty Tuscan options are some unique pasta dishes including Spaghetti all’Ubriaco or drunken spaghetti which is cooked in half a liter of Tuscan red wine and their strawberry risotto.
Osteria dei Benci, not surpsingly, started on Via dei Benci, today you will find it just down the road on a little street tucked around the corner from Santa Croce Church. The location changed but the food is just as amazing and Marco and his staff are welcoming and great at what they do. Enjoy your meal!

This is one of our go-to spots — when we have friends or family in town we know that Marco will make sure we have a wonderful evening. It is especially good if you have Bistecca on your food bucket list. Not only do they have the traditional t-bone but the other steak cuts with chilli, garlic and lemon juice are tender and tasty. It is never just a one course meal for us because the pasta choices are just too tempting.
