Looking for something to do during the week or on a lazy Sunday afternoon? Head over to the Van Gogh Alive exhibit for an unforgettable experience. Located in the Santo Stefano al Ponte, the exhibit was worth every penny of the 10euro student fee.
The exhibit takes a very different approach compared to most museums, by giving viewers a timeline of Van Gogh’s life through his artwork. Upon arriving, there are boards with blown up versions of Van Gogh’s most famous paintings. Below each painting there is a story instead of the usual small blurb about technique or the medium used.
The second part of the museum is when the “Alive” aspect comes into play. Tons of Van Gogh’s artwork is projected all over the walls of a dark room and set to music. It is incredibly moving and leaves you will a newfound appreciation for Van Gogh and his contribution to art.
