Spring has finally sprung in Florence, which means hello warm weather! It’s finally safe to break out the short sleeves and sundresses – perfect, comfortable outfits to do some exploring! If you have yet to hit Florence’s major tourist attractions, this is the perfect time to do it. There’s a lot to see in this city, but there are three things you shouldn’t (and I personally couldn’t) leave Florence without seeing.

1. Climb the Duomo

The Duomo is an absolute must. The best time to visit would be during the week, since weekends are prime time hours for visiting tourists. Go inside Florence’s cathedral, see the famous frescoes painted on the ceiling and climb up the Duomo itself for some pretty spectacular views. 

Bonus: Climb to the top of the bell tower and get an insane view with the Duomo!

2. Catch the sunset at Piazzale Michelangelo 

Just a short bus ride away from the historic center, the Piazzale Michelangelo holds a panoramic view of the entire city that no one should miss. Head over around late afternoon and you’ll catch the sun setting behind the mountains – the light reflects off the Arno River and it’s one of the most beautiful views you’ll find in Florence.

3. Explore Villa La Pietra 

This in particular might be a little harder to do, but it’s definitely worth visiting if you get the chance. Open to the public on Tuesday mornings for the gardens and Friday afternoons for the villa itself, Villa La Pietra is an incredibly beautiful Italian villa sitting on 57-acres of land (home to four other villas as well!). Advanced reservations are required for both tours, but if you have time I’d absolutely suggest squeezing this in. The estate is currently the NYU Florence campus, dubbed one of the most beautiful college campuses in the world!
