In recent years there have been a several food trends in Florence. Officina brings together two of these trends, hamburgers and street food. Tuscany is renowned for its quality beef and pork, Officina uses local produce to put together a menu of specialty, gourmet burgers.

The burger menu is complemented by a selection of typical appetizers, a couple of steaks, and handmade pastas. An officina by definition is a shop where goods are manufactured. To this end the kitchen is open and visible both from the small restaurant space and the takeaway window which opens directly onto the street.

Traditionally, restaurants in Florence closed in the afternoon between lunch and dinner service. The new-style food vendors in Florence are open without a break embracing a more international schedule of eating which doesn’t have to be defined by the time of day.

If you don’t want to eat in, the prices are significantly lower on from the takeaway window, the latest addition to which is delicious homemade lasagne for €6.50.

We love the L’estintore burger, which translates to the extinguisher — pecorino cheese, tomatoes, spicy pesto and grilled bell peppers. But the menu also includes the classics; traditional burger, cheese, or bacon and cheese. They have a great selection of Tuscan craft beers that go perfectly with burgers. And when the last thing I want to do is cook dinner, I can’t resist a piece of their homemade lasagna to take home and eat in front of netflix!
