Museo Dell’Opificio Delle Pietre Dure was renovated on a project by Adolfo Natalini in 1995. The collection which was curated by Anna Maria Giusti follows a thematic criterion where the productions of the Medici and Lorraine grand-ducal period are documented. The mezzanine floor is dedicated to the processing techniques including rich stone samples, tools, and even exemplification of some phases from the production of inlays and carvings. This gives us the opportunity to retrace the complete process from the ideation to the finished work while discovering the most intimate mechanisms of a fascinating episode of Florentine artistic history.
