As part of The Bargello Museum, The Davanzati Palace is an ancient 14th century residence of the Davizzi family, merchants and bankers, shows its imposing façade on the homonymous square. It joins a number of tower houses together.  In 1578, the palazzo was purchased by Bernardo Davanzati, a successful merchant as well as a famous historian.

The Palace symbolizes a stage of transition between the closed, vertical structure of the tower-house and the spacious Renaissance palazzo that is arranged a central courtyard. On the first floor, the facade features three wooden gates. These gates were once used as an open loggia to host chats, tradings, and as a waiting room and playground for the family’s children.

The different floors of the palace features spaces dedicated to the private life of the Davizzi family. Step back in time to see how this well-known family lived.
