Duomo Museum & The Dome

The Duomo is recognized by people all over the world as a symbol of Florence. Experience the rich history and see a collection marvelous artwork inside the Duomo when you visit Museo dell’Opera del Duomo. The museum spans three floors and a total of 28 rooms for visitors to discover a vast collection of artwork including works of Arnolfo, Ghiberti, Donatello, Luca della Robbia, Antonio Pollaiolo, Verrocchio, and Michelangelo.

A highlight of the museum are the many original statues that have been moved inside from the facade of the Duomo. To understand better what you are seeing, you can download the Museo Duomo app in both the Apple and Google play stores. The free app will accompany you inside the Museum with information and insights about the rooms and the works on display. Scan the QRcode that is presented in the Museum to get direct access the multimedia content related to the works, promotions and initiatives in progress. Shhh…there is also a terrace with an amazing view of the Dome on top of the museum for great Insta pics!

Tip: Once you have the ticket, don’t skip The Baptistery. It only takes a few minutes to visit and the gold mosaics are out of this world.

The Duomo ticket is valid for 72 hours from when you first use it, and includes; The Museum, The Crypt in the Church, The Bell Tower, The Baptistery and of course Brunelleschi’s Dome.

Cathedral: 10:00am – 4:30pm / Monday 1:30pm -16:45
Dome: 8:30am – 7:00pm / Monday 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Baptistry: 8:15am – 10:15am & 11:15am – 7:30pm / Monday 8:15am – 1:30pm
Bell Tower: 8:15am – 7:00pm
Cathedral Crypt: 10:00am to 5:00pm / closed Mondays
Duomo Museum: 9:00am – 7:00pm

Note: The Museum will be closed the first Tuesday of every month.

Important Information

You need to make a reservation to climb the Cupola (dome). If you want climb the dome, click the “Brunelleschi’s Dome Skip-the-Line Booking” box, and select the date you would like to climb the dome in the drop-down box. It is frequently booked out, so don’t leave it until the last minute.

European Union citizens, between the ages of 18 and 26 years old are eligible for a reduced price ticket! Make sure you bring your passport or ID card. You will need to show it at the entrance even if you book online.
