Museo Casa Buonarroti is the museum of Michelangelo’s home. While here, visitors will find paintings, sketches, and drawings from the great Italian artist.
The museum is divided into two floors with sixteen exhibition rooms. When you enter on the first floor, visitors will find works of artist who inspired were inspired by Michelangelo and were collected by the family.
Go up to the second floor to marvel at Michelangelo’s work in wax, terracotta, wood, plaster, and more. There are also a series of sculptures here that were never completed.
One of the some of the important works found in this museum are the “Madonna della Scala” and the “Battaglia dei Centauri”. These are two are sculpted by Michelangelo himself during his youth.
The museum is conveniently located just a five minute walk from Santa Croce on the corner of Via Ghibellina and via Buonarroti. Being so central, it is an easy place to see go and see any day.
